Pipe Jointing Equipment
We offer pipe jointing equipment for jointing HDPE pipes.
There are two jointing techniques namely permanent and detachable. For this,
butt fusion welding and electro fusion welding are most used jointing
methods.
BUTT FUSION WELDING
This is simplest and the quickest method of jointing HDPE
pipes of any diameter. The two ends of the pipes are pressed against a
heated tool under controlled pressure and temperature conditions using a
hydraulic jack that ensure proper alignment. This joint obtained by this
technique is homogeneous to the original pipe material.
ELECTROFUSION WELDING
It is a sophisticated technique used for jointing HDPE
pipes. Our jointing equipment are fitted with time controller for effective
heating operation. For frequent dismantling and shifting, HDPE pipes with
detachable joints are mostly used. Three types of detachable joints are
normally used, which are:
Flanged joints:
The two flanged ends are then joined with standard nuts and bolts with a
proper gasket to ensure a leek-proof joint.
Insert transition joints:
Serrated hose nipples can be used for connecting HDPE with threaded pipes
and utilities. The serrated portion of the pipes are secured with a jubilee
clip/clamp to ensure a leak-proof joint.
Compression couplers:
Compression couplers are ideal for pipe systems requiring frequent
dismantling and shifting e.g. economic irrigation of larger areas by using
smaller pipe lengths
The Science of Heat Fusion Welding
The fundamental of heat fusion welding is to heat two
HDPE pipe surfaces to an designated temperature, changing the resin's
molecular structure to an amorphous and then fuse them together by
application of prescribed force until cooling occurs, returning the material
to a crystalline state and creating one homogeneous pipe.
The Method of HDPE Fusion Welding
HDPE pipe is Butt fused together using a "fusion
welder". Welding machines vary depending on the Outside Diameter (OD)
of the pipe to be welded. The pipe pieces are held axially by a clamping
device to allow subsequent operations to take place. Afterwards, the pipe
ends are "faced" with a machining tool to establish clean and
parallel mating surfaces. A heating element is then inserted in between the
faced ends and the pipes are drawn together against this heating element. At
the melt temperature, the heating element is quickly removed and the pipes'
ends are drawn together under a specified force. Pipes are held until the
joint cools. Then, the fused pipe is removed from the welding machine.
